Great Fosters, a magnificent Grade I listed Elizabethan masterpiece originally built as a royal hunting lodge in the 16th century, stands as one of England's most enchanting luxury retreats.
Set within 50 acres of breathtaking gardens and parkland near Windsor, this historic country house hotel blends the grandeur of Tudor England—mullioned windows, towering chimneys, ornate fireplaces, and a Saxon moat crossed by a Japanese bridge—with luxurious modern comforts, creating an idyllic sanctuary of timeless elegance and refined hospitality.
The 56 individually decorated bedrooms and suites are exquisite in every detail: rooms in the Main House are adorned with tapestries and antiques, while those in The Cloisters and Coach House embrace a more contemporary style. Each offers supreme comfort and character, many with views over the formal gardens or the estate's peaceful landscapes, ensuring a deeply restful and memorable stay.
Dining is elevated to an art form: The Estate Grill, holder of 2 AA Rosettes, presents a simple yet exceptional seasonal menu featuring produce grown on the estate, while the intimate Tudor Pass, led by Executive Chef Alex Payne, offers sophisticated tasting menus for lunch and dinner Wednesday to Saturday. In warmer months, al fresco dining on the terraces allows guests to savour afternoon tea, lunch, or supper while overlooking the stunning gardens.
The heated outdoor pool (open April to October) is framed by listed 1930s bathing huts, and three treatment rooms provide a serene space for relaxation and pampering. The estate's beautiful grounds invite leisurely walks, quiet reflection, or simply unwinding in the shade of ancient trees—delivering the perfect balance of historic splendour and modern indulgence.

These bedrooms are also known as the Duke of Wellington Suites and feature 6-foot king-size beds (which can be twinned if preferred), a work desk and complimentary WiFi. They have in-room safes, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a Roberts Blu Tune 50 DAB radio and sound system. Two rooms have bathrooms with a bath with shower over the top and are furnished with black granite and illuminated shaving mirrors, while another room has a bathroom with bath and shower over the top. The Hall Room has a free-standing bath with separate large shower. Some rooms enjoy a view over the gardens while others overlook the main drive.
